AUSTINBURG —
Gary M. Gockerell, age 52, of Route 307, Austinburg, Ohio, died unexpectedly Saturday afternoon, July 24, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Feb. 26, 1958, in Lakewood, the son of Robert M. and Helen M. (Hubbard) Gockerell and has lived in Ashtabula County most of his life. Gary was a 1977 graduate of Ashtabula County Vocational School.
He was a private contracting electrical engineer, working for television cable companies all over the world.
He served on the Austinburg Volunteer Fire Dept. for 11 years. His interests include fireworks, surfing E-Bay, target shooting pistols and his dog, “Bristol”.
Survivors include his wife, Beverly A. (Verzanske) Gockerell, whom he married on July 20, 1996, in Austinburg Township; his mother, Helen M. Gockerell of Austinburg Township; a niece and nephew, Rachel (Josh) Johnson of Jefferson and Robert (Denise) Johnson of Dorset Township; and two great-nieces and three great-nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, Robert in 1969, and a sister, Janice M. Johnson in 2002.
Funeral Services will be held 11 a.m. Friday, July 30th, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Pastor Chris Christian, of Eagleville Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Center Cemetery, Austinburg Township.
Calling Hours will be held Thursday, July 29th, from 5 to 8 p.m. at the Funeral Home, and 10 to 11 a.m. on Friday prior to the service.
