JEFFERSON — Marvin Lewis Jones Sr., age 57, went to rest in the arms of his Lord, on Monday, Jan. 21, 2013, at his residence.
The only son of Fate and Neallie (Gaines) Jones, he was born on August 9, 1955, in Ashtabula. A graduate of Ashtabula High School, he had remained a lifelong area resident.
Marvin was employed at Eltech for many years prior to his retirement. He maintained his friendship with his fellow employees after his retirement.
He enjoyed all sports, but really enjoyed the game of basketball. He was familiar with many of the big name players and their stats. Video games and television game shows were also a part of his life. Marvin’s greatest enjoyment was being with his family, he never tired of learning of the adventures of his children and grandchildren.
Marvin will be remembered for his determination, and that he would not let diabetes define his life, his unusual sense of humor which he has passed on to his children and grandchildren; and his fierce love for his family and friends.
He is survived by his wife, Darlene Jones; his children, Marvin Jones Jr. of Jefferson, Marleena Jones of Geneva and Anetra Young of Ashtabula; six wonderful grandchildren; his father, Fate Jones of Ashtabula; his sisters, Dorothy Jones, Willie Mae Jones and Elmerene Jones, all of Ashtabula; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Neallie Jones in 2006.
A Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, Jan. 28th, at People’s Missionary Baptist Church, 3837 West Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio, with the Rev. Dr. German Womack Jr., pastor, officiating and the Rev. Thomas McCain delivering the eulogy. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Calling Hours will be observed from 10 a.m. until time of Service at Noon, Monday, at the Church.
