ASHTABULA — Margaret “Peggy” L. Vorous, age 84, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, Jan. 9, 2013, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born Nov. 23, 1928, in Patton, Pa., the daughter of John and Alverna (McConnell) Jones.
She had worked for the Ashtabula Area City Schools and was one of the first women boiler operators in Ohio.
She was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish. She started a TOPS group in North Kingsville in 1980. She member of AARP and was a driving instructor. She enjoyed crocheting, genealogy and spending time with her family and grandson.
Surviving her are two daughters, Nancy Daughtry of Houston, Texas and Linda (Larry) Frahm of Ashtabula; a grandson, Elliot Frahm; two great-grandchildren, Trent and Hailey; a brother, Thomas (Kathy) Burris of Kingsville; and a sister, Judith Henderson of North Kingsville.
She was preceded in death by her parents; a daughter, Gail Vorous; a son, Timothy Vorous; and a brother-in-law, Gary Henderson.
A Memorial Service will be held 2 p.m., Monday, Jan. 14th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with Deacon Richard Johnson officiating.
Burial will take place at a later time at Eastlake Cemetery in North Kingsville.
Calling Hour will be from 1 p.m. until the time of Service, Monday, at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Mariner Park in care of Tom Burris.
