ERIE, Pa. —
Robert F. Soltis, age 84, of Erie, Pa. and formerly of Conneaut, died Saturday, Sept. 1, 2012, at St. Vincent Health Center, in Erie.
Born in Conneaut, Ohio, Jan. 16, 1928, he was a son of the late Andrew and Anna (Fobean) Soltis. Bob graduated from Conneaut High School and served in the U.S. Air Force during WWII. He was honorably discharged from the service as a Staff Sergeant after 3 years of active duty. He later graduated from Case Institute of Technology before starting his career at G.E. Transportation.
Bob retired from G.E. as a manager of quality control in 1990, after 37 years of service. He was a founding member of St. Luke Catholic Church. He was a member of the Erie Maennerchor Club, Zukor and Siebenbuerger Clubs, G.E.’s Quarter Century Club, G.E. Elfun Society and a founding member of G.E.’s Museum of History. He was a member of the G.E. Retirees Club and enjoyed traveling with other members, along with his wife.
In addition to his parents, Bob was preceded in death by 10 brothers, Joseph, Paul, Adam, Bernard, Albert, Edward, Thomas, Lawrence, Rudolph and Raymond Soltis; and three sisters, Helen and Mary Soltis and Delores Sedor.
Survivors include his wife of 65 years, Shirley M. (Scott) Soltis of Erie; a son, Scott Soltis and wife Mary of Erie; a daughter, Deborah Konieczki of Erie; one brother, John Soltis and wife Jane of Ashtabula; three grandchildren, Jason Soltis, Jonathon Soltis and wife Stephanie and Jennifer Soltis; and two step-grandchildren, Aaron Lego and Carrie Ann Burzynski.
Friends are invited to call at BRUGGER FUNERAL HOMES & CREMATORY, 1595 W. 38th St., Erie, Pa., on Tuesday, from 2 to 6 p.m., and to attend a Mass of Christian Burial, at St. Luke Catholic Church, 421 E. 38th St., Erie, Pa., on Wednesday at 10 a.m. Private burial will be at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
