ASHTABULA —
George J. (Eurez) Verdi, age 74, of Ashtabula, died Wednesday, July 4, 2012, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
Born April 20, 1938, in Ashtabula, he was one of 13 children of Ralph and Lucille (Rocco) Eurez. George attended Edgewood High School and at the age of 18, he enlisted in the United States Army.
He retired from Diamond Shamrock after 30 years service. He was a great outdoorsman who loved fishing and hunting. Before his illness, he would meet with his friends at the East Ashtabula Club. George was a member of Our Lady of Peace Parish; Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church.
Survivors include his daughters, Lisa Kruszewski of Girard, Pa. and Debbie (Steve) Harris of Anderson, S.C.; son, Michael Verdi of Ashtabula; six grandchildren; sisters, Mary Sebastian and Rose Rente, both of Ashtabula; brothers, John Verdi and Paul (Adelaide) Eurez, both of Ashtabula; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Frank, Mike, Anthony, Ralph Jr. and Tony; three sisters, two in infancy and Ann Dubaj.
Funeral Service will be 12 Noon, Monday, July 9th, in Our Lady of Peace Parish, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Church, with burial to follow in Saint Joseph Cemetery. Full Military Honors will be provided by American Legion Honor Guard Team Post 103. Visitation will be from 3 to 5 p.m., Sunday, July 8th, at GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 1550 W. 19th St., Ashtabula.
