CONNEAUT —
David C. Summers, age 77, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Sunday evening, July 1, 2012, at St. Vincent Health Center, Erie, Pa., following a short illness.
He was born Oct. 12, 1934, in Conneaut, the son of Roy C. and Eva (VanGorder) Summers Sr. He served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict.
David was employed at Allied Resins as a shipping clerk. He was an area resident most of his life other than for a few years when he resided in Gary, Ind. David enjoyed playing computer games, doing jigsaw puzzles and walking his dog “Midget”.
Survivors include a son, Greg (Verginia) Summers of Conneaut; and other family members including Linda (Tom) McBride of North Kingsville, Ohio, Gary (Sherrie) McElwain of Benton Harbor, Mich., Richard (Peggy) McElwain of Port Byron, N.Y., James Pillar of Painesville, Ohio and Mark Pillar of Conroe, Texas. Also surviving are two sisters, Esther Penniman of Conneaut and Dorothy Makynen of Kingsville, Ohio; a brother, Victor (Joan) Summers of Conneaut; and a number of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Clara B. Summers; and three brothers, Donald, Roy and Harold Summers.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, July 5th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, Ohio. Burial will be in Kelloggsville Cemetery, Monroe Township, Ohio.
Friends may call at the Funeral Home on Thursday morning from 9:30 a.m. until the time of Service.
