CONNEAUT —
Elsie E. Duris, age 83, of Harbor St., Conneaut, died Saturday, August 25, 2012, at Jefferson Health Care.
She was born the daughter of John and Anna (Evan) Black on June 11, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio.
Elsie was a member of St. Mary’s/St. Francis Cabrini Parish. She belonged to the Catholic Daughters of the America’s and the St. Mary’s Ladies Guild.
Mrs. Duris and her husband were owners of the Blue Moon Restaurant in W. Springfield, Pa. They also operated the truck stop at Routes 6N and 90. Elsie also kept the books for her husband’s construction company.
Elsie and her husband were managers of the Conneaut Manor for many years. Elsie enjoyed raising her children and in her later years, played an active role in the lives of her grandchildren. Her love of children extended beyond her own family; as she would always be counted on to have a pocket full of candy for the children at church. She is survived by her sons, Paul D. of Erie, Pa. and Gary J. (Debbie) of Conneaut; grandchildren, Paul David II, Patrick Michael, Christina Marie, all of Erie, Pa and Alicia Nicole, Mercedes Lynn and Brian Michael, all of Conneaut; sisters-in-law, Helen (Robert) Walchack of W. Springfield, Pa. and Della (Joseph, deceased) Duris of Columbus; and her beloved dog, “Mitze.” She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews and close friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Paul; infant son, Dennis M.; grandson, Christopher A.; brothers, Michael and John Black; and sisters, Ann Gaskey and Mary Antolik.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 11 a.m., Wednesday, August 29th, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 480 State Road, Conneaut, with Fr. John Summers celebrant. Private burial will be at St. John Catholic Cemetery, in Girard, Pa.
Friends may call from 10 a.m. until time of Services at 11 a.m., Wednesday, at the Church. Catholic Daughters of the America’s will hold a Prayer Service at 10:30 a.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the family. THOMPSON-SMITH FUNERAL HOME, 345 Main St., Conneaut is in charge of arrangements.
