CLEVELAND —
Karen L. Johnson, age 64, of Lanese Dr., Windsor Township, died on her father’s birthday, Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at University Hospital in Cleveland.
Born Sept. 10, 1947, in Warren, she was the daughter of George V. and Pearl (Draeger) Smith. Growing up in Colebrook Township, she has resided in this area all of her life. Karen was a graduate of Grand Valley High School and received an associate degree from Kent State University-Geauga Campus, where she was named in Who’s Who of College Women.
Karen was a 44 year employee of Kennametal Corp., retiring in 2010.
A member of the Colebrook United Methodist Church, she enjoyed golfing, bowling and traveling.
She is survived by her step-mother, Janice F. Smith of Orwell; and her longtime companion, Michael F. Maruna of Windsor Township and his three children, Michael J. Maruna of Boise, Idaho, Maureen A. Maruna of Roaming Shores and Brittany R. Maruna of Chesterland.
Her parents, her grandparents, three aunts, one uncle and many cousins preceded her in death.
Funeral Services will be held 5 p.m., Saturday, May 5th, at the Jefferson Home of the FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, Ohio, with the Rev. Laurie Evinsky, of the Colebrook United Methodist Church, officiating. Burial will take place in Colebrook Cemetery.
Visitation will be held Saturday, May 5th, from 2 to 5 p.m. at the Funeral Home.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the family, in care of Janice Smith, 7740 Route 46 North, Orwell, Ohio 44076, for a memorial for Karen.
