PIERPONT — Mary Jean Szalai, age 56, of Pierpont, died unexpectedly Friday, Feb. 1, 2013, at University Hospitals in Cleveland.
Mary Jean was born March 17, 1956, in Ashtabula, the daughter of Walter and Jean Muchiarone Perkoski. She was a graduate of Conneaut High School.
For most of her life, Mary Jean was a homemaker and housewife. She enjoyed gardening, flowers, plants and especially being outdoors.
She loved cooking for her family and friends and once traveled to Germany with her mother-in-law.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Mary Jean is survived by her husband, Eugene “Gene” Szalai of Pierpont, whom she married August 1, 1979; a daughter, Marisa and Kenny Yunak of Richfield, Ohio; and a son, Joshua Szalai of Pierpont.
Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m., Monday, Feb. 4th, and from 1 to 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 5th, at RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
