WILLOUGHBY — John A. “Jack” Watson, age 86, of Concord Township, formerly of Mentor, Ohio, died Saturday, March 6, 2010, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.


Born August 14, 1923, in Geneva, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served during World War II in the European theatre.


Mr. Watson was a retired teacher having taught at various schools in Lake County.


He was active in Toastmasters, an amazing storyteller, very musical and an avid reader. He volunteered at the Lake County Metroparks, Lake County Historical Society and was very active at St. Andrew Episcopal Church in Mentor.


Survivors include his wife of 64 years, Virginia “ Jinny” (Stowe); son, CC (Linda) Watson; grandchildren, Anthony Watson and Katherine “Beth” (Jason) Hotchkiss; sister, Janet (Max) Landon; son-in-law, John Loomis; and grandson-in-law, Michael Scafidi.


He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kassandra “Kezia” Loomis; granddaughter, Theresa Scafidi; his parents, Viola and Homer Watson; step-father, Paul Bowman; and brother, Roger Watson.


Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m., Saturday, March 13th, at St. Andrew Episcopal Church, 7989 Little Mountain Road, Mentor, Ohio 44060. Inurnment at St. Andrew Episcopal Church columbarium.

Family will receive friends from 10 to 11 a.m. Saturday at the church.


The family will host a reception at the church immediately following the service on Saturday.
