AUSTINBURG — Remembering that the day of death is our birthday to eternal life we share the passing of Mary Jean (Babucz) Lachey on Sunday, Jan. 31, 2010.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, on Dec. 17, 1928, the daughter of Frank Joseph and Ruth R. (Reynolds) Babucz, Mary possessed a rare gift. She had the ability to see the beauty in the most simple of God’s creations, in nature as well as in man.
For many years she was active in her church community, the First United Church of Christ in Austinburg. UNICEF and the International Bazaar were two of her favorite projects. Educated at Ohio University, she took her keen business sense, honesty and integrity into CO-ownership of Frank’s Tractor Sales in Austinburg from 1956-1994.
Blessed to be married to the love of her life for 61 years, she leaves Fred Lachey of Austinburg to cherish her memory. Throughout their marriage they shared an abundance of good times. Their travels took them to several locations in North America, including Alaska and Hawaii, as well as destinations in Europe.
Finding solace in the knowledge that her abiding love will continue to guide them from heaven are her children and grandchildren, Ruth (Daniel) Cihla and their daughters, Chelsea and Talia of Snellville, Ga., Timothy (Rebecca) Lachey and their children, Melissa and Eric of Climax, N.C., and Matthew (Lisa) Lachey and their children, Justin and Jarrod of Brunswick, Ga.
Memorial Services will be held 3 p.m., Friday, Feb. 5th, at the Austinburg First United Church of Christ, 2870 Route 307, Austinburg, with the Rev. Allison Milligan of the church and former pastor, the Rev. Dale Kent officiating. Burial of ashes will take place at a later date in Mechanicsville Cemetery.
No calling hours will be observed.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in her honor to the Building Fund at the First United Church of Christ of Austinburg, envelopes will be available at the service.
