BLOOMFIELD TOWNSHIP — Charles “Chuck” A. Smith Jr., age 69, died Monday, August 27, 2012, at Cleveland Clinic.

Born on April 11, 1943, he was the son of Charles A. Smith Sr. and Geraldine (Post) Smith and was a graduate of Bloomfield High School in 1961. Charles was married to Martha (Slusher) Smith on May 23, 1962, in Hagerstown, Md.

Charles was retired from Orwell Village where he worked for the Water & Sewer Department. He also was employed with Miller & Yount Paving.

He was a member of the North Bloomfield Assembly of God and a past member of the Orwell Volunteer Fire Department.

Chuck enjoyed his Farm-Trac tractor and using the various attachments. It was not uncommon to see him lending a helping hand to his family and friends. He especially enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and going out to the Friday night fish fries with his wife.

Survivors include his wife, Martha Smith; children, Charles “Skip” (Karyn) Smith IV of Windsor and Deborah (Daniel) Bates of Trenton, Ky.; siblings, Kenny Smith of Gardendale, Ala., James Smith of Bloomfield, Ronald Smith of Orwell, Nancy Reed of Cortland and Karen Cunningham of Mesopotamia; grandchildren, Brittni Lester Bates, Charles (Chad) Smith V, Erica Smith, Jessica Bates and Brooklynn Smith; and great-grandchildren, Zackary Lester, Samantha Smith and Bentley Lester.

He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Judy (Smith) Slusher.

A Funeral Service officiated by Pastor James Smith and Pastor Brandon Byler will be held 11 a.m. at the PAINE-GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 140 E. Main St., Orwell, Ohio 44076, on Friday, August 31st.

Visitation will be held at the Funeral Home on Thursday, August 30th, from 1 to 3 p.m. and 6 to 8 p.m.
