CONNEAUT —
Virginia M. Brainard, age 79, of Conneaut, Ohio, died Thursday evening, August 23, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home, Kingsville, Ohio, surrounded by her family.
She was born Oct. 15, 1932, in Girard, Pa, the daughter of Paul and Letha R. (Stiffler) Sydow.
A graduate of Girard High School, she was employed for 16 years at Girard Manufacturing and retired in 1994 after 27 years at Premix Corp. She enjoyed doing needlework, reading, gardening, camping and playing bingo.
Survivors include two daughters, Teresa A. Johnson of Tyler, Texas and Jeanine (Jim) Copeland of Akron, Ohio; two sons, James E. Brainard Jr. and Robert C. (Nora) Brainard, both of Conneaut, Ohio; five grandchildren, Misty, Melinda, Kayleigh, Matthew and Paige; three great-grandchildren, Gabe, Ronnie and Amber; two brothers, Wilbur Sydow of Lake City, Pa. and George Sydow of East Springfield, Pa.; as well as nieces, nephews and more distant relatives.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James E. Brainard Sr. in 2009; and two daughters, Cheryl in infancy and Kathy at birth.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday, August 28th, at MARCY FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION CENTER, 208 Liberty St., Conneaut, with the Rev. Jonathon Singer, pastor of First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville, Ohio.
Calling Hours will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Monday, at the Funeral Home.
Memorial contributions may be made to the ACNRC (Ashtabula County Nursing Rehabilitation Center) for bingo. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
