TUCSON, Ariz. —
Nancy C. Horst was born to Carl and Loree Wyndham, Jan. 20, 1933 in Bloomville, Ohio. She passed into the hands of her Lord, Friday, June 29, 2012.
She was raised in the Colorado Springs and Florissant, Colorado areas. She married Carl Horst, USAF on March 26, 1949. After a short time in California, they settled in Ashtabula County, Ohio. They raised a family and all enjoyed boating and sailing Lake Erie plus a mixture of school activities.
She treasured her thirteen years managing a junior high school library. In her early forties, she enrolled at Capitol University where she graduated Summa Cum Laude. During her Junior year, she decided to run for Ashtabula County Recorder. She won her first and second subsequent terms before retiring.
She and her husband moved to Tucson in 2006 after some years as "snow birds". They discovered many new and caring friends. Tucson became home. She and her husband summed up their 63 years of marriage with a song, "Look at Us". One verse is "Look at us after all these years together. Look at us after all we've been through. Look at us still leaning on each other. If you want to see what true love can be, just look at us."
She is survived by her husband and daughters, Catherine Blum of Indiana, Debra Polgar of Alabama and Diane Kent of Arizona. Also by six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; sister, Jane Wilson; and brothers, Max, Bill and Jim Snare, all of Colorado.
A Memorial Service will be held 3 p.m., Sunday, July 22nd, at her church, Rincon UCC, 122 N. Craycroft, Tucson, Ariz. 85710.
Her wish was for memorial contributions to be made to the church. Arrangements are being handled by BRING'S BROADWAY CHAPEL, 6910 E. Broadway, Tucson, Ariz.
