KINGSVILLE —
Donald Lynne Durkovic, age 73, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully Friday, August 3, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Nursing Home.
Born June 17, 1939, in Jefferson, Ohio, son of Steve and Donna (Eaken) Durkovic, he was a lifelong area resident. Don graduated from Jefferson High School Class of 1957. He married the love of his life, Karen Strong, on Nov. 26, 1958. Donald served 6 years with the Army National Guard.
He retired as a Tool Grinder from Rockwell Brake in 1987 after 25 years of service to the company. He loved his work trade as a tool grinder, it often carried home because he would offer to sharpen tools for friends and family.
He was a member of the 1st Baptist Church. Donald was a good husband and father. He enjoyed his family, playing games with his children and teaching them to play softball. He also enjoyed gardening, and keeping his yard mowed and trimmed. Most of all, he loved the Lord and serving him in his church.
Donald’s survivors include his wife of 53 years, Karen; children, Tamara (Jay) Balsiger of Concord, Ohio, Jonathan (Nelda) Durkovic of Fitzgerald, Ga., Jennifer (Ron) Seigman of Ashtabula, Troy (Kimberly) Durkovic of Shelby, Ohio, Sarah (John) Scott of Wilmore, Ky. and Greta Durkovic of Lexington, Ky.; brothers, Steven (Jean) Durkovic of Apache Jct., Ariz. and David (Donna) Durkovic of Lake Ariel, Pa.; and half-sisters, Diana Klemencic of Dunnellon, Fla. and Julianne (David) Reed of Kent, Wash.; 12 grandchildren; three great-grandchildren with one on the way; and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by his father and step-mother, Steven and Janet Durkovic; and mother and step-father, Donna and Cliff Reighard.
Funeral Service will be held 12 Noon, Monday, August 6th, at ZABACK-WILLIAMS-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with Pastor Ron Seigman officiating. Burial will follow at Chestnut Grove Cemetery. Calling hours will be held from 10 a.m. until time of Service, Monday, at the Funeral Home.
