CONCORD —
Anthony L. “Tony” Satej Sr., age 82, a resident of Madison, Ohio, passed away on Wednesday, May 2, 2012, at TriPoint Medical Center in Concord, Ohio.
The son of Anton and Jennie (Kebe) Satej, he was born on June 22, 1929, in Cleveland, Ohio. Tony graduated from the former Thompson High School, Class of 1947. A Veteran, he served with the U.S. Army participating in the Korean Conflict.
Mr. Satej was employed as a Pipefitter for General Motors for 17 years and retired from Uniroyal Corp. after 11 years of service. He was also a landscaper for the Madison Schools.
He was a member of St. Cyprian Church and the Knights of Columbus, Painesville Council 947. Tony served on the Board of Directors of the A.M.L.A. Lodge 30, in Cleveland; was a member of S.N.P.J. Lodge # 355 in Cleveland; was past president of the American-Slovenian Club and Fairport Slovenian Retirees Assn. in Fairport Harbor; a member of V.F.W. Post 7754 in Fairport Harbor, where he served on the Color Guard; and a member of the Hungarian Culture Club in Fairport Harbor.
He enjoyed flower gardening, bowling and golfing.
Survivors include his wife, Carol A. (Wickert) Satej, whom he married on Oct. 27, 1956; son, Anthony L. (Carol) Satej Jr. of Eugene, Ore.; daughter, Lynne M. (John) Kohr of Leroy; and grandchildren, Jenny, Nick and Kelly Kohr.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 10 a.m., Monday, May 7th, at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4223 Middle Ridge Road, Perry. Friends will be received Sunday, May 6th, from 4 to 8 p.m. at the SPEAR-MULQUEENY FUNERAL HOME, 667 Mentor Ave., Painesville. Interment will be in Riverside Cemetery in Painesville.
