ASHTABULA —
Richard “Chips” Johnston Sr., age 75, of Lake Ave., Ashtabula, died Saturday, April 28, 2012, at Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born May 15, 1936, in Ashtabula, the son of Albert and Sylvia Johnston and had been a life time area resident. He served in the United States Army.
He was employed at A & B Dock in Ashtabula and had also managed ABC Lanes in Ashtabula.
He was a member of East Ashtabula Club; Northend Club; Young Men’s Social Club; VFW Post 934; American Legion Post !03 and the Army-Navy Union. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Surviving him are eight children, Richard (Cindy) Johnston Jr. of Ashtabula, Lorraine Brazil of North Carolina, Keith (Anita) Johnston of Ashtabula, Cheryl (William) Perkins of Geneva, Mark (Carla Rose) Johnston of Ashtabula, Pebbles (Daniel) Johnston of Ashtabula, Christopher Brazil of Ashtabula and Samantha (William Brockway) Brazil of Ashtabula; 18 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; a brother, William (Judy) Johnston of Florida; and a sister, Janice (Roger) Berg of Minnesota.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Dorothy in 1996; and several brothers and sisters.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Wednesday, May 2nd, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Military rites will be conducted by American Legion Post #103.
Calling Hours will be from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, May 1st, at the Funeral Home.
