JEFFERSON — Edward L. Titus, age 89, of Jefferson, Ohio, and formerly of Ashtabula, died Tuesday, Nov. 13, 2012, at the Jefferson Health Care in Jefferson.
Born May 29, 1923, in Conneaut, Ohio, he was the son of the late Lloyd and Eleanor (George) Titus and was a 1941 graduate of Rowe High School.
A Veteran, Edward served in the U.S. Army during World War II, serving in the European Theater of Operations. He was on Omaha Beach on D-Day plus one and had also received a Purple Heart. He had worked on the Great Lakes in his younger years but retired from Packard Electric in Warren, Ohio, in 1978.
He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Ashtabula; Harbor Lodge #224 F & AM; the Scottish Rite Valley of Cleveland; and Western Reserve Chapter #8 RAM.
He enjoyed cooking, camping, genealogy, collecting books of the “Wizard of Oz”, and spending time with his niece and nephew and their families. In his younger years, he enjoyed riding a motorcycle.
Surviving him are his sister, Jean Louise Friedrich of Jefferson; his niece, Brenda (Robert) Nick of Ashtabula; his nephew, Edwin R. (Heidi) Friedrich Jr. of Ashtabula; and great-niece and nephews, Megan Friedrich, Scott (Kristin) Friedrich and Andrew F. Nick.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 17th, at the Ashtabula Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, INC., 526 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Rev. Doug Wright, of the First Baptist Church, officiating. Burial will be in Glenwood Cemetery in Conneaut, with Dewey Howlett Post #103 of Ashtabula conducting Military Rites.
Calling Hour will be Saturday, Nov. 17th, from 10 a.m. until the time of Service at the Funeral Home.
