HARPERSFIELD TOWNSHIP — — Joyce E. Brettell, age 89, died with her family by her side on Friday, Jan. 4, 2013, at Jefferson Healthcare.
She was born Sept. 27, 1923, in Geneva, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Bertha (Sheelay) Lair. Joyce was married to Lucius D. Brettell on Nov. 23, 1944.
She was a member of the Rock Creek United Methodist Church, where she was Treasurer for many years. Also, she was involved with the Travelers Club, VFW Woman’s Auxiliary and assisted in preparing the meals for the Rock Creek Rotary Club meetings.
She is survived by her husband, Lucius; daughter, Linda (Thomas) Isenberg; son-in-law, Gregg Metzger; grandchildren, Jennifer (Nicholas Vanek) Metzger, Heather (Casey Campbell) Metzger, Derek Metzger and Erik (Klaire) Metzger; and great-grandchildren, Skylar Martin, Darrell Leeper and Obsydian Metzger.
She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Raymond L. Lair; and sisters, Helen Cowley and Ruth Poole.
A Memorial Service will be held at the Rock Creek Union Cemetery Chapel on Friday, Jan. 11th, at 1 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family, in care of, Joyce’s daughter Linda Isenberg. Envelopes will be available at the Service.
