JEFFERSON —
Thomas Melvin Eastlake, age 62, of Footville-Richmond Road, died suddenly Wednesday, March 14, 2012, at the Ashtabula County Medical Center.
He was born Oct. 26, 1949, in Andover, the son of Melvin J. Eastlake and Bertha I. (Jewell) Eastlake and had been a lifelong area resident. A graduate of Edgewood High School, he was a Veteran of the U.S. Air Force, serving during the Vietnam War before being honorably discharged.
He was employed at Western Reserve Farm Cooperative. He enjoyed horses, bowling and softball in his younger years, country music, playing cards and cheering for the Cleveland Indians. He loved playing with and watching his granddaughters.
His survivors include his wife, Karen (Kolosai), whom he married on June 16, 1973; children, David Eastlake of Jefferson and Tara (Steve) Thome of Rock Creek; two grandchildren, Skyler and Aubry Thome; four siblings, Karen A. (Gary) Buckley of Champion, Michael L. (Brenda) Eastlake of Chardon, William L. (Carol) Eastlake of Farmville, Va. and Donna J. (John) Teare-Luoma of Clearfield, Utah; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by three brothers, David A., Kenneth E. and Russell Eastlake; and his parents.
A private family service will be held at ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula. Certified Celebrant Kathleen Shaffer will officiate. Burial will be in Lenox Center Cemetery.
The family request contributions to the American Cancer Society or the Disabled American Veterans.
