FARMINGTON, N.M. —
Richard P. Pohl, age 77, of Madison, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, July 17, 2010, in Farmington, N.M., following a long battle with a rare blood disorder.
Richard was born Sept. 1, 1932, in Erie, Pa., to Frank and Sophia Pohl. He was a 1951 graduate of Erie East High School. Richard married Donna Doran on Sept. 13, 1952.
In 1957, the family moved to Geneva, Ohio, where he opened a new Sunoco Station. Following this, he was employed by True Temper, Geneva Rubber, and retired from Neff Perkins in 1994 as a partner and plant manager of the Perry and Middlefield Divisions.
He and his wife then spent the winters in Scottsdale, Ariz., through 2007. He is a past member of Geneva Rotary and NEO Rubber Group.
He is survived by his wife; sons, Richard (partner, John Pitrelli) of Lake Elsinore, Calif., and Douglas (Natalie) Pohl of Tustin, Calif.; daughters, Dorothy (James) Garner of Farmington, N.M., and Dawn (Christopher) Saxon of Aztec, N.M.; grandchildren, Nolan and Haley Pohl and Cory and Camren Saxon; sister, Barbara (John) D’Orio of Saybrook, Ohio; and sisters-in-law, Carol (William) Hill and Dayle (Salvan) Cianella, both of Erie, Pa., and Patricia (Harry) Harabedian of Williamsburg, Va.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sisters, Geraldine Slater and Judy Massero; and sisters-in-law, Dorothy Geisler and Ruth Truitt.
A Memorial Service will be held 11 a.m. Saturday, July 31st, at Central Congregational Church, 71 Park St., Madison, Ohio, officiated by the Rev. Harry Buch.
The family wishes to express their appreciation to Ann Moses and the nurses in the Out-Patient Department at the Geneva Memorial Hospital.
It was Richard’s wish that in lieu of flowers, a donation be made to Central Congregational Church. The family encourages you to donate blood at your nearest blood bank in his honor.
