ASHTABULA — George Edward Joseph Stecki Sr., age 85, of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away on Saturday, Sept. 29, 2012, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center with his family by his side.
George was born on April 16, 1927, in Chicago, Ill., the son of Alexander and Lorean Stecki. He later relocated with his wife and family to Ashtabula in 1969 and has been a resident since.
George worked for Sherwin-Williams Paint/SCM/Millenium for 46 years and retired in 1995.
His interests included racing stock cars, CB radios (his handle was “Polish Ambassador”), bowling, poker, the Cleveland Indians, gardening and spending time with his family.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, Virginia (Jewell) Stecki; three sons, George (Regina) Stecki Jr. of Ashtabula, John Stecki Sr. of St. Petersburg, Fla., and Ben Stecki Sr. of Ashtabula; one daughter, Kathy (Mike) Headley of Greenville, Pa.; six grandsons, Luke, Matthew, Alexander Jr., John Jr., Ben Jr. and Kaylor; three granddaughters, Tiffany, Stacy and Tabitha; and nine great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Alexander W. Stecki; brothers, Frank, Fred and Louis; a sister, Rosie; and a daughter-in-law, Patricia (Heim) Stecki.
Funeral Services are 1 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 4th, at POTTI LAKESIDE FUNERAL HOME AND CREMATION SERVICE, 1329 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, with the Rev. Tim Kraus officiating. Burial will follow in Edgewood Cemetery.
Calling Hours are 11 a.m. until the time of Service Thursday.
