ASHTABULA —
Doris June McTigue, age 78, of E. 51st St., passed away Friday, Sept. 21, 2012, in the Hospice Unit of Ashtabula County Medical Center.
She was born May 30, 1934, in Pierpont, the daughter of Link and Mary (Platt) Sheneman and had been a lifelong Ashtabula County resident, spending nearly 40 years in Geneva.
Prior to her retirement, she worked 24 years as an assembler for Advanced Technology.
Doris often spoke fondly of farm life during the 1930's and 40's at her childhood home in Pierpont. She was musically talented playing the organ, accordion and singing on a church radio program in her youth. She was a skilled seamstress and frequently made clothing for her daughters when they were children. She tended her flower gardens with care; all the while enjoying the wildlife around her. A patriotic woman, Doris was saddened when she read of the death of veteran or active duty personnel.
A wonderful mom, grandma and great-grandma, Doris will be remembered for her love of family and all creatures great and small.
Her survivors include four children, Randall (Polly) McTigue of Walnut Grove, Minn., Daniel (Denise) McTigue of Kingsville, Karen McTigue of Painesville and Lynn Brown of Rochester, N.H.; six grandchildren, Kyle McTigue, Heather Thomas, Shaun McTigue, Megan Alexander, Christopher Brown and Courtney Brown; seven great-grandchildren; and loving nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her brothers, Paul and Floyd Sheneman; her sister, Betty Dietrick; and her parents.
A Service will be held 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 24th, at Evergreen Cemetery, Pierpont, Ohio, with the Rev. Earl Vautin, Pastor of Pierpont Presbyterian Church, officiating.
No calling hours will be observed.
