HOT SPRINGS, Ark. —
Zoltan Ferenc Koi, age 88, formerly of Ashtabula, Ohio, passed away Saturday, August 25, 2012.
He was born Oct. 6, 1923, in Whitewood, Saskatchewan, Canada. A Veteran, he served in the U.S. Army as a radio operator in the Central Pacific during World War II.
He was a leather worker in Ashtabula, Ohio. Zoltan studied French horn at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston, Mass. He played with the Boston Symphony in Carnegie Hall, and the Boston Pops. He also played with the New England Opera Company, the San Antonio Symphony, the East Texas Symphony, the Hot Springs Woodwind Quintet, and the Hot Springs CSO Band. Over the years, Zoltan also taught French horn to many students.
Survivors include his beloved wife of 33 years, Norma; four sisters, Rose, Helen, Esther and Barbara; five children; five stepsons; seven grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ernest, and two sisters, Margaret and Irene.
A Celebration of Life Service was held at Seventh-day Adventist, 401 Weston Road, where he was a member, with Brother Ron Ray officiating. Interment followed at Arkansas State Veterans’ Cemetery with Military Honors.
Arrangements were entrusted to CARRIGAN MEMORIAL FUNERAL SERVICES.
