WILLIAMSFIELD —
Flora E. Ostavitz, age 86, was peacefully called home to our Lord on Saturday morning, August 28, 2010. Flora passed away at home in the arms of her loving husband.
Flora was born June 26, 1924, in Youngstown, Ohio, a daughter of the late Carl A. and Helen Jean Hamza Nelson and had lived in Youngstown for 67 years before moving to Williamsfield.
Mrs. Ostavitz retired from Commercial Shearing in Youngstown in 1975. She was a member of Our Lady of Victory Church in Andover. She was also a member of the Knights of Columbus Ladies Auxiliary.
Flora was proud of her Hungarian heritage and was such a wonderful cook. She enjoyed crocheting, listening to, and when she could, dancing to polka music. She truly loved being surrounded by family and always had time for her loved ones. She would provide such loving, caring advice from her heart, often with a Hungarian word or two.
Mrs. Ostavitz leaves her beloved husband of 67 years, Edward J. Ostavitz Sr., whom she married Oct. 20, 1942; son, Edward J. Jr. (Jackie) Ostavitz of Andover; daughter, Edina Ostavitz Jordan of Andover; two foster children, Joe (Anna) Varone and Anita (Mike) Nard; six grandchildren, Brock (Kelly) Ostavitz of Andover, Carl (Tamara) Ostavitz of Andover, Sherri (Bill) Lowry of McDonald, Edward J. III (Maria Teresa) Ostavitz of Gulfport, Miss., Brian Ostavitz of Gulfport, Miss. and Charlene Salanci of Keystone Heights, Fla.; Flora was also blessed with 17 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. Flora will be truly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Family and friends may call from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 1st, at KINNICK FUNERAL HOME, 477 N. Meridian Road, Youngstown.
Funeral Services will begin at 10:15 a.m., Thursday, at the Funeral Home, and continue at 11 a.m., at Our Lady of Hungary Church, North Belle Vista Ave., Youngstown. Interment will follow at Lake Park Cemetery in Youngstown.
