SAYBROOK TOWNSHIP — Marjorie Ilea Pelyhes, age 92, of Lake Road West, passed away Tuesday, July 24, 2012, at her home.

She was born June 5, 1920, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the daughter of Ralph and Magdelena (Schneider) Ramos and had been a lifelong Ashtabula resident.

Prior to her retirement, she owned and operated Heights Beauty Salon, where she helped make the ladies of Ashtabula beautiful for many years.

A member of Second Congregational Church, she also belonged to the Cosmetologists Association, the Grottoettes, the Ashtabula Elks #208 Ladies Association and Covered Bridge Chapter, #591 Order of the Eastern Star.

A wonderful aunt who loved her nieces and nephews like her own children, she also loved her home and took meticulous care of her yard and garden.

Her survivors include several nieces and nephews, including Ronald (Patti Neill) Ensell who have lived with her and cared for her over the past few years, as well as her beloved companion of the past 20 years, Charles “Budd” Engle, who had been a true friend and godsend over the years.

She was preceded in death her husband, Julius in 1989; two brothers, Ralph and Lee Ramos; three sisters, Alicia Archer, Mae Plagakis and Virginia Millard; her nephew, Don Ensell; and her parents.

Calling Hours will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, July 26th, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME, 500 W. Prospect Road, Ashtabula, with the Covered Bridge Chapter #591 O.E.S. conducting their Memorial Services at 7:45 p.m.

A Service will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, July 27th, at the ZABACK-DUCRO FUNERAL HOME. The Rev. Glen Warner, Pastor Emeritus of Second Congregational Church, will officiate.

Entombment will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.
