David B. Moores

ASHTABULA — David Bruce Moores, age 62, of Hiram Ave., passed away Saturday, Oct. 13, 2012, at home with his loving family at his side.

He was born April 3, 1950, in Ashtabula, Ohio, the son of Donald Moores and Letha (Carlson) Moores and had just returned to Ashtabula last year from Kansas City, Mo. A 1968 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he entered the U.S. Air Force and served four years before being honorably discharged. His last year in the service was spent in Chili, South America.

During his high school years, David worked at WREO where he assisted with many projects, including set-up for Sunday Church programming. He also worked for his father and with family throughout the years at Moores Farm Supply as a mechanic and store manager.

Always known for his intelligence, he established a passion for computers and worked in Maryland for Bendix Corporation, a computer networking company. His job consisted of installing computers on government ships and then training the ship's crew how to use them as they sailed from California to Maryland and from Wisconsin through the Great Lakes. This career allowed him to travel the world through most of the waterways around the globe. He later moved to Kansas City, Mo., and took a position with a computer consulting firm that worked with Ford Motor Company.

To his beloved family, his legacy will always be how kind and thoughtful he was toward others.

His survivors include his mother, Letha Long of Ashtabula; his father, Donald Moores of Ashtabula; his sister, Cynthia (Greg) Woodburn of Geneva; several aunts and other family members who were dear to him; and his mom’s dog, Louie, of whom he was very fond.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Jeffrey Alan Moores in February of 1986.

A Calling Hour will be held from 10 to 11 a.m. on Thursday, Oct. 18th, at the DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, with a Celebration of Life Service to follow at 11 a.m. The Rev. Michael Legg, Pastor of Ashtabula First Church of the Nazarene, will officiate. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens, North Kingsville.

Contributions may be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve, 1166 Lake Ave., Ashtabula, Ohio 44004.
