ASHTABULA —
Jerry Lee Nappi, age 65, died peacefully at his home surrounded by his entire family on Wednesday, Feb. 1, 2012, following a short battle with cancer.
He was born in Ashtabula on Sept. 21, 1946, the son of Joseph and Mary (Ginn) Nappi. He graduated from Harbor High School in 1964. One month later, he joined the United States Air Force and defended his country during the Vietnam Conflict. On June 4, 1966, he married Margaret "Bunny" English; his wife of 45 years.
After his discharge from the Air Force, he worked as an Ashtabula County Sheriff's Deputy. Jerry spent the next thirty years as a foreman at Millennium Inorganic Chemicals.
He was a lifetime member of the Ashtabula VFW and a member of the Senior Men's Bowling Club. He raised horses at his home and farm in Austinburg and raced them frequently at Northfield Park and other area race tracks. He enjoyed gambling and traveling. He was especially fond of the many vacations he took with his wife and children.
Jerry was a loving husband, father and grandfather. His world revolved around his family and included daily check-ins with all of them.
He is survived by his wife, Margaret "Bunny" Nappi; his son, Robert of Jefferson; daughter, Lynn (Jim) Villella of North Kingsville; sons, Jerry Lee II (Jennifer) of Geneva and Michael (Jessica) of Ashtabula; his brother, Robert (Peggy) of Canton; and his grandchildren, Nicholas, Joshua, Christopher, Zachary, Jerry Lee III, Emily, Elizabeth, Alana, Hailee, David, Mia and Hayden.
He was preceded in death by an infant sister at birth and his parents.
