William J. Buehner Sr.

ROCK CREEK — William “Billy” J. Buehner Sr., age 64, of Rock Creek, Ohio, passed away at home, with his family by his side, Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, after a long hard fought battle with illness.

He was born Sept. 23, 1945, in Geneva. He was the son of Matilda M. (Buehner) Robinson and Frank J. Buehner. A long time resident of Rock Creek, Bill was drafted into the U.S. Army during the Vietnam Conflict, where he served 18 months in Vietnam and earned a Bronze Star before being honorably discharged.

He gave close to 30 years of his life working for R. W. Sidley in Thompson, before retiring. Throughout his life, he was an avid volunteer; serving as a Morgan Hose Volunteer Firefighter for over 25 years, on the Morgan Township Zoning Board and working within the community always looking to make things better. Bill was known to have his opinion printed in the Saturday Opine Section of the Star Beacon, which many people enjoyed reading.

Mr. Buehner is survived by his loving wife, Sheila A. (Couch) Buehner, whom he married August 30, 1969, of Rock Creek; three children, Laurie A. (Shawn) Burns of Rock Creek, William J. (Aimee) Buehner Jr. of Fairfield and Shaun M. (Kathleen) Buehner of Jefferson; four grandchildren, Hailey and Jerrod Burns, Ricky Olmstead and Derek Buehner; three sisters, Elaine (Martin) Sintic of Eastlake, Carol (Leslie) Landis of Eastlake and Linda (Robert) Rhodes of Oklahoma; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; step-father, William Robinson; step-brother, Nelson Robinson; brother, Frank “Butch” Buehner; and sister, Virginia “Tootie” Miller.

Funeral Service will be 11 a.m., Thursday, Feb. 4th, at PAINE-GUERRIERO FUNERAL HOME, 3119 W. Water St., Rock Creek, with the Rev. David Weikart officiating.

Visitation will be from 5 to 8 p.m., Wednesday, Feb. 3rd, and also Thursday, from 10 a.m. until time of Service, at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the family. Envelopes will be available at the funeral home.
