DENMARK TOWNSHIP — William B. Jacobs, age 78, of St. Rt. 167 East, Denmark Township, died Wednesday morning, Jan. 27, 2010, at his residence, following an extended illness.
He was born July 22, 1931, in Sistersville, W.Va., the son of John L. and Lillian (Matthews) Jacobs and had been a resident of the Jefferson area the past 54 years, coming from St. Clairsville, Ohio. He was married to Bernice M. Orr on Jan. 21, 1950, in Whetsell Co., W.Va.
Mr. Jacobs was a truck driver with True Temper Corp. for 30 years, retiring in 1985. He enjoyed hunting, gardening and loved being outdoors.
Survivors include his wife, Bernice; five children, William L. (Margaret) Jacobs of Jefferson, Stanley M. (Sharon) Jacobs of Linesville, Pa., Elsie L. Laskin of Jefferson, Donald B. Jacobs of Ashtabula and John F. Jacobs of Erie, Pa.; nine grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Susanna Orr of Flushing, Pearl Kerns of Canton and Thelma Bugay of Cambridge.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a daughter, Wilma Williams; four sisters, Georgianna Eddy, Ida Mae Miller, Mary Holiday and Margie Devore; and a son-in-law, Mike Laskin.
Funeral Services will be 2 p.m., Monday, Feb. 1st, at the Jefferson Home of FLEMING & BILLMAN FUNERAL DIRECTORS, 49 W. Jefferson St., Jefferson, with the Pastor Bill McMinn, of Eagleville Bible Church, officiating. Burial will be in Greenlawn Memory Gardens.
Visitation will be from 12 Noon to 2 p.m., Monday, at the funeral home.
