JEFFERSON —
Dan L. Swann, age 81, passed away after a brief illness on Saturday, Nov. 6, 2010, at the Cleveland Clinic.
Born Sept. 11, 1929, in Cleveland, he was the son of Perry and Ollie Jane (Jones) Swann and had been a Jefferson resident since 2004, moving here from his retirement home in Florida, to be closer to his children. A 1947 graduate of Ashtabula High School, he later entered the U.S. Air Force and served in England during the Korean Conflict from 1950 to 1954 before being honorably discharged.
He retired as a manager from Conrail after 30 years of service.
A talented carpenter in his younger days, he had a quick wit and enjoyed playing the piano and following politics and the national news.
He is survived by four children, Michele (Howard) Young of Navarre, Fla., Greg Swann and Debbie (Tim) Blough, both of Jefferson and Kristina Swann of Euclid; seven grandchildren, Belinda Young, Danielle Downing, Jeffrey Ernst, Janelle Swann, April Rock, Kenny Blough, and Lindsey Kaydo; one brother, Frederick R. Swann of Painesville; and numerous nieces and nephews, including a special nephew, Michael Mascik of Ashtabula.
He was preceded in death by two sisters, Betty J. Mascik on Oct. 9, 2009 and Margaret H. Swann on Oct. 29, 2010; and his parents.
A Gathering of family and friends will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., Tuesday, Nov. 9th, at his residence, 115 E. Cedar St. Apt. #16, Jefferson, Ohio.
