ASHTABULA —
George E. Hopson, age 79, of Ashtabula, passed away peacefully at his home on Thursday, Sept. 13, 2012, surrounded by his loving family.
George was born Dec. 8, 1932, in Glenalum, W.Va., the son of Theodore and Pearl (Daniels) Hopson and had resided in Ashtabula since 1960. He married Adalean Coleman and together spent 61 years together.
Mr. Hopson was a track foreman for Norfolk & Southern Railroad, retiring in 1992 after 41 years of service to the company. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife, Adalean; his children, O’dell Hopson of Tennessee and George (Dianne) Hopson Jr., Nedia K. Landry and Ted Hopson, all of Ashtabula; brother, Jarrell Hopson of Ashtabula; sister, Gerlene Blankenship of Pine Mountain Valley, Ga.; three grandchildren, Bobbie Sue Bennett, Michael Bennett and Jan Morris; and six great-grandchildren.
George was preceded in death by his parents and nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral Services will be held 1 p.m., Monday, Sept. 17th, at Greenlawn Memory Gardens, Route 20, North Kingsville, with Pastor Kenneth Roberts, of Pentecostal Church of God, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made in his name to Hospice of the Western Reserve. DUCRO FUNERAL SERVICES AND CREMATORY, 4524 Elm Ave., Ashtabula, is handling arrangements.
The family of Mr. Hopson would like to express their deepest heartfelt Thank-You to the staff and nurses at the Hospice of the Western Reserve for all their support and care given to George.
