GENEVA —
Edwin “Ed” L. Manes, age 96, of Plymouth Township, passed away on Sunday, Sept. 9, 2012, at Geneva Shores.
He was born August 8, 1916, in Greene, Ohio, to Edward and Minnie (Housen) Manes. He served with the U.S. Army during WWII. Ed married Diane F. Spoor on Jan. 6, 2001 in Geneva.
Ed operated numerous used car dealerships in Geneva for over 50 years. These included Big M Motors, OK Motors and E & M Motors. He was a part-time deputy sheriff for Ashtabula County for 26 years and for the Geneva-on-the-Lake Police Dept. for 2 years. He was a member of Geneva Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie #2243 and Geneva V.F.W.
He enjoyed fishing, stock car racing at Raceway 7, motorcycle riding, was a NASCAR fan and a boxer.
Survivors include his wife, Diane; children, Sandy Stuntz of Conneautville, Pa., Robert Manes-Bishop of Louisiana, James Manes-Adams of Mentor, Edwin Spoor of Harpersfield Township and Laura Leider of Geneva; and several grand, great and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his son, Donald Bugansky Sr.; brothers, Isaac, Ara, Lloyd and Harold; and sisters, Daisy, Jean Buck and Nina Culver.
Graveside Service will be 11:30 a.m., Wednesday, Sept. 12th, at Evergreen Cemetery in Geneva.
Calling hours will be from 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, Sept. 11th, at WALKER FUNERAL HOME, 828 Sherman St., Geneva.
