TEMPE, Ariz. —
Thomas F. Babbitt, age 79, formerly of Conneaut, died Tuesday, April 10, 2012, in Tempe, Ariz., where he had recently moved to be closer to his family.
Tom was born Sept. 19, 1932, in Cleveland, Ohio, the son of Warren C. and Rna Bricker Babbitt. After graduating from high school, Tom went on to work at the Nickel Plate Railroad. He entered the United States Army in 1953, where he served during the Korean Conflict, until he was honorably discharged in 1955.
When he returned home, he worked at the Nickel Plate Railroad and the Norfolk and Western Railroad as an Engineer, following 38 years of service until his retirement in 1981.
He was a member of the American Legion Cowle Post 151 and the Conneaut Eagles Club and the Tempe Eagles Club. Tom was an avid outdoorsman and he enjoyed hunting and fishing.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Mary Agnes Babbitt, whom he married Feb. 29, 1970.
Tom is survived by his son, Timothy Mark Babbitt of Cheyenne, Wyo.; daughter, Lori Lynn Babbitt of Tempe, Ariz.; step-son, Robert Skinner of Australia; and two step-grandchildren.
Calling Hours will be held from 10 to 11 a.m., Tuesday, April 17th, at RAISIAN FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 581 Harbor St., Conneaut.
Funeral Services will be held at 12 Noon, Tuesday, April 17th, at Greenlawn Memory Gardens Mausoleum, Route 20, North Kingsville, Ohio, with Father Philip Miller, of St. Mary/ St. Frances Cabrini Parish, officiating. Burial will follow with the American Legion Honor Squad conducting Military Honors.
