The Ashtabula County Choral Music Society will present a concert on the outdoor stage of the Conneaut Community Center for the Arts Sunday at 7:00 pm.
The program, entitled "Our heritage in song: musical, Finnish, American" will include a cappella selections from the Renaissance era, selections from "Pirates of Penzance" by Gilbert and Sullivan; music of Finnish composer Jean Sibelius and tribute to the history of Ashtabula County and America through music. In addition, featured guest performersGalen Karriker and friends will entertain and lead the audience and choristers in song.
Karriker is on the faculty at the University of Akron where he directs the concert and marching bands and teaches instrumental music.
The performers and the audience will end the concert together with the singing of "God Bless America."
The concert is free. Bring a folding chair. In case of rain, the performance will be moved inside.
Also, the music society will present a similar concert in the Kent State University Ashtabula Auditorium June 27 at 7 p.m.
The concert is also free.
