ASHTABULA — What happens when a once-beloved spouse won't take ‘til death do us part’ for an answer?
Find out in the final three performances of G. B. Community Theatre's classic hit ‘Blithe Spirit’ today and Saturday.
‘Blithe Spirit’ is Noel Coward's hauntingly comedy about a séance gone wrong, dead wives returning from the grave and the kind of fun you expect from an evening of great theater.
“Blithe Spirit” tells the story of a novelist, Charles Condomine, living with his second wife, Ruth. When the two invite friends and a local medium, Madame Arcati, to their house for an evening of psychic fun, Charles gets more than he bargained for when Arcati conjures up the ghost of Charles' first wife, Elvira. Caught between one live wife and one dead one — both jealous of the other — Charles thinks matters couldn't get any worse.
One of Noel Coward's biggest successes, ‘Blithe Spirit’ is directed by Linda Fundis of Austinburg. Appearing in the cast is Rita Werman asEdith, Jeannie Jyurovat as Ruth, Clay Nielsen as Charles, Dennis Dixon as Dr. Bradman, Valerie Compton as Mrs. Bradman, Velleda Knox as Madame Arcati and Ellen Knox Dare as Elvira.
Walk-in, day of the show, box office tickets to ‘Blithe Spirit’ are adults $12 and senior/student, $11. Save $2 per ticket when you purchase tickets in advance. For tickets or more information call the Ashtabula Arts Center at 964-3396.
