Actor meets drunk John Barrymore in ‘I Hate Hamlet’

ASHTABULA —  Andrew Rally seemed to have it all until the television series he starred in was canceled.

Now he has a chance to play Hamlet. There ís just one problem. Andrew hates “Hamlet.” And to make matters worse, he moves into a new apartment that is haunted by the ghost of John Barrymore, the greatest Hamlet actor of all time!

G.B. Community Theatre at the Ashtabula Arts Center will open the comedy  “I Hate Hamlet” Oct. 26 at 8 p.m.

From the moment Barrymoreís ghost returns, Andrew's life is no longer his own. A drunken Barrymore, fortified by a big ego, presses Andrew to accept the role and fulfill his actor's destiny. The G. B. Community Theatre production is directed by Bob Kilpatrick of Madison.

This production will be performed Oct.r 26, 27, 28, Nov. 2, 3, 4, 9 and 10. Friday and Saturday shows begin at 8 p.m. and Sunday shows begin at 2 p.m. Tickets are: adults $14, seniors/students $12 or save $2 per ticket when you purchase tickets in advance.  Advance sales must be purchased prior to 4 p.m. on the day of the show or by 4 p.m. Saturday for Sunday performances. Tickets can be purchased by visiting the Ashtabula Arts Center box office or by phone at 964-3396.

G. B. Community Theatre will be offering a ham dinner before the Nov. 3 performance. Seating for the set menu dinner begins at 6:30 p.m. Cost is $16 plus the price of your theater ticket. Dinner tickets must be purchased by noon Oct. 31.
