Ballet Theatre Ashtabula “Dream Scape” will launch a spring dance concert May 11, 12, 13, 18, 19 and 20.
Friday and Saturday shows begin at 7:30 p.m. Sunday matinees begin at 2 p.m.
Returning to the stage this year will be two pieces by Clover Robinson. “Blackbird,” a Beatles favorite sung by Dionne Farris, is a female solo that will be danced by Alicia Ngiraingas. The dancer embodies strength from the earth and the natural freedom of a bird in flight.
Other classics returning to the stage include “Adagio For Strings” and “Romance.”
Tim Kolman and Sarah Mudd will dance to “Don Quixoteî pas de Deux.”
Pieces choreographed by AAC instructor Karen Sly include a modern quartet involving boxing gloves and is set to the music of the Adiemus Variations performed by the Smith Quartet of the London Philharmonic.
Also on the program will be a series of solos, duets, quartets and group pieces set to the music of Brandi Carlile, Elton John, the Beatles, Debussy, Rossini and Verve with additional choreography by Scott DeCola and Meg Stell.

Advance sale show tickets are $12 patron seating, $9 adults, $8 seniors and $7 students and children. Walk-in tickets are $14 patron seating, $11 adults, $10 seniors and $9 students and children.
The Lake Shore Artists is holding an artists exhibit and sale at the Ashtabula Arts Center, 2928 W. 13th St., throughout the month.
Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Friday and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. The exhibit can also be viewed before Ballet Theatre Ashtabula’s spring dance performances and during intermission. Admission is free.
An opening reception will be held May 11 from 6 to 8 p.m. Visitors can view the exhibit and meet many of the group members. Light refreshments will be served.
The Lake Shore Artists is a nonprofit organization that cultivates the visual arts through education, exhibitions, demonstrations, critique sessions and painting outings. The group started in November of 1973 as the Professional Artists of Ashtabula County.
The artists invite anyone interested in creative visual art to join. Dues are $15 per year. In addition to regular meetings, group members also get together during the month to work on individual projects and share each others company.
