ASHTABULA — The eight-piece blues band Blue Lunch, consisting of bass, drums, guitar, harmonica, keyboards and a full horn section, will take the stage at the Ashtabula Arts Center Saturday, at 8 p.m.
Tickets can be purchased for $15 adults and $10 seniors/students by visiting or calling the arts center at 964-3396.
Blue Lunch play a mix of 1950s era swing/jump blues/Chicago style blues. Since their founding by leader Pete London in 1984, the group has played steadily at nightclubs, colleges, festivals, resorts, and corporate and private functions.
The group has performed at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame and Museum, at world famous Severence Hall and the Ohio State Fair. They've opened shows for Big Bad Voodoo Daddy, Robert Cray, The Beach Boys and many other artists. They have recorded three CDs, including their newest “Not Live at the Copa” for Catch This Records.
“Blue Lunch is easily one of the most entertaining blues-based groups in the Cleveland area," says Buane Verh of the Jazz & Blues Report.
The show will be performed in the comfort of the Ashtabula Arts Center's main stage theater.
Also coming to the arts center this spring are the GeezeCats. This quartet of seasoned veteran musicians will be singing songs from the Golden Age of Rock 'n' Roll-the late '50's and '60's along with their improve-style comedy which includes sight gags, one liners, skits and more.
The GeezCats focus on authenticity, perfection and a full range of four-part harmony. Doo Wop
hits of the Skyliners and the Diamonds sound like the Skyliners and the Diamonds.
The GeezCats perform songs by Roy Orbison, The Drifters, The Everly Brothers, Sam Cooke, Ricky Nelson, Dion and the Belmonts, Jan and Dean and others.
The "GeezeCats" will be performing at the arts center March 6 at 8 p.m.
Tickets for Blue Lunch and/or GeezeCats are on sale now for $15 adults and $10 seniors/students. Seating is limited and tickets to either show can be purchased in advance by calling the arts center.
