MADISON —
A Musical Rainbow is the theme for the Madison Chorale’s annual spring concert May 4.
Each year this 20-member chorale ensemble presents a vibrant and lively program of vocal music ranging from pop to traditional to sacred. This year’s program will include a tribute to American folk singer icon Woodie Guthrie in celebration of his 100th birthday.
For more than 30 years, the Chorale has been a cultural outreach of Rabbit Run Community Arts Association and is comprised of volunteer vocalists from Lake, Geauga and Ashtabula counties. The Chorale, under the direction of Betty Jean Green, performs throughout the year at public and private functions.
Each year, the Chorale invites an outstanding music student studying at Rabbit Run to perform. This year’s special guest performer is vocalist and pianist Cassie Kahr, a senior at Madison High School. Kahr has a long list of musical credits including singing with Radio Disney Pop Squad, singing the National Anthem for both the Lake Erie Captains and the Lake Erie Monsters and performing live on WKKY radio in Geneva. She has also performed with the band The Girls and the Eagle Ragtime Jazz Band. She is planning on majoring in music education and Spanish in college.
An additional instrumental guest performance at the concert will be made by the recorder ensemble Lacus Venti Consort.
The concert begins at 7:30 p.m. at Trinity Lutheran Church, 6345 Chapel Road. Tickets are available at the door and are $6/adult and $5/senior and children under 12. Refreshments will be served following the concert. For more information call RRCAA at 428-5913.
