ASHTABULA — The Ashtabula County Choral Music Society welcomes new singers beginning with Monday’s rehearsal at the First United Methodist Church, 4506 Elm Ave.
Singers must be 10 or older. No auditions are required.
“All singers who love to sing, are willing to learn to sing well with others and will attend weekly rehearsals are invited to register for membership at the first rehearsal,” publicist Ellen Jacobs said.
“The mission of ACCMS is to provide quality performances of significant choral works for Ashtabula County audiences while providing singers with an educational and musical experience,” Jacobs said.
Season tuition and participation fees are minimal and can be paid for over time if necessary, she said.
Experiences singers who are 18 or older are invited to sing with the Chorale as part of the Madison Chorale December performances of “An Elizabethan Yuletide Feaste” at the Lodge and Conference Center at Geneva-on-the-Lake and host an Ohio Choral Directors Association Community Choir Festival in collaboration with West Shore Chorale of Westlake and perform selections from Mendelssohn’s “Elijah” and celebrate 20 years of ACCMS with a new concert. Rehearsals are 7 to 9 p.m.
ACCMS will also continue its education arm with choir camps.
Experienced singers in grades 7 through 12 from public, private and home school settings may join the Youth Choir, which rehearses Mondays from 5 to 6:30 p.m.
Performances by the Youth Choir include “An Elizabethan Yuletide Feaste,” “Conneaut Christmas Chorale Festival”, “Ashtabula All-County Youth Choir Festival” and anniversary concert.
The Children’s Choir, for grades 5 and 6, will provide curriculum designed to develop individual singing and music reading skills, strengthen independent musicianship and learn to sing well with others. Rehearsals are Mondays from 4 to 5 p.m.
