In celebration of their 70th wedding anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Carmen Scafuro of Ashtabula were honored at an open reception with family and friends Dec. 2 at their home.

Carmen and Hazel (Hoover) were married Nov. 30, 1942, in Fremont.

The couple’s children are Alice Marthaller of Conneaut; Dolores Riley, Jack and David Scafuro and Linda Petros, all of Ashtabula; and the late Sharon Lacy. The couple also have 13 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Prior to his retirement in 1988 Mr. Scafuro was employed as a railroad conductor with the New York Central Railroad for 43 years. Mrs. Scafuro was a self-employed beautician for 25 years. They are lifelong members of St. Joseph Church.
