Mallory Shimek and Matthew Slebodnick became engaged on Sept. 28.
The bride-to-be, daughter of Robert and Cindy Shimek of Ashtabula, is a student at Kent State University.
Her fiancé, son of Matthew and Sarah Slebodnick of Ashtabula, is serving in the Air Force. He is a member of the Security Forces and is being deployed overseas.
The couple will be married in a closed ceremony 2:30 p.m. Dec. 29 at First Grace Gospel Church. A closed reception will follow.
