ASHTABULA — Michael Gergely wants to help clean up this town and at the same time, help his customers host terrific parties.

Gergely, who is vice president of Dasco Paper LLC, 2401 West Ave., fomerly leased space inside the plaza located at 1200 Lake Ave., until Dasco purchased the building at its present address in June 2008.

“We wanted to be a part of the community, and to belong to the community, you should be invested in the community. That is why we purchased this building,” Gergely said.

Dasco Paper’s parent company is Maintenance King Janitorial Supplies and Service Inc., in Lorain.

“We came from a janitorial supply and cleaning background and purchased Dasco in June of 2000,” he said.

Although Dasco Paper offers a huge selection of paper and party supplies, it also offers a full range of janitorial supplies.

“Nursing homes, day cares, industries, nurseries, campgrounds all utilize our products. If you need it we can get it,” Gergely said.

Dasco offers a full line of towels, deodorizers, cleaning equipment, cleaners, mops, sponges, brushes, caution signs and rental carpet cleaners, as well as a huge variety of colors and styles of party supplies for all occasions of parties and events, including graduations, showers, weddings and birthday parties.

“We also offer ‘green’ cleaning products called the Lotus System, a water-based cleaner that returns to tap water after an hour,” Gergely said.

The company is owned by Maggie Gergely, of Lorain. She is the owner, president and Michael’s mother.

“I’ve grown up in this business. Every day is something different and challenging. We are always learning about new products; it is very rewarding,” Michael Gergely said.

“Dasco always was paper, party and janitorial, but after we bought it, we have worked to expand the janitorial supply aspect,” he said.

There are six employees at the Ashtabula store.

“This is a great company. We are up and coming and growing,” said Otilia Lebron, office manager. “The public is what makes us and keeps us going. I work with great people, and a party theme store is fun.”

Store associate Dave Barnes agrees.

“This is a nice small store that is able to provide that personal touch,” he said.

Dasco’s mission statement is to strive constantly to provide its customers with the best-quality services and products at competitive prices, while maintaining a consistently higher level of customer service than any of its competitors.

“During these tough economic times, our personal service is very important. Our prices are competitive, and our sales staff is very knowledgeable and helpful,” Gergely said.

Dasco has available a huge catalogue for customers to peruse, and a catalogue online (www. dascopaper.com).

“We are consistent in the product lines we carry. We educate our customers on how to use and care for what they are buying. We offer a great value for the customer’s money,” he said.

Dasco Paper is proud to be a part of this local community. The company is a member of the Ashtabula Area Chamber of Commerce.

“It is very important to me that the people of Ashtabula support their local businesses,” Gergely said.

Hours are 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday to Friday and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Saturdays. The store is closed on Sundays.
