WARREN DILLAWAY / Star Beacon A SHORT police chase ended Friday evening when a man drove his vehicle into a pole on Carpenter Road, just east of Ohio Avenue, according to the Ashtabula County Sheriff's Department. The man was driving 80 miles an hour during the chase which began at Route 45 and Carpenter Road and ended several miles later with the crash, said Ashtabula County Sheriff's Dept. Sgt. Scott Slocum.
