Corn hole for crayons

MARGIE PAGE: A cornhole tournament, sponsored by First American Loans, 364 W. Main Road, Conneaut, will begin at 1 p.m. Friday in the store parking lot at the Conneaut Plaza shopping center. Registration will be held between 10 a.m. and noon, said Ryan Humphrey, First American sales manager.

The single-elimination event features two-person teams competing for cash. Proceeds benefit an effort to purchase basic school supplies for Conneaut area students, coordinated by the Right Track after-school program.

“We can always use the help,” said Mary Young, Right Track coordinator.

Conneaut’s Right Track after-school program, which is raising money to purchase school supplies for help children purchase school supplies.

Participants and spectators are asked to bring along a school-related item — such as notebooks, pens or pencils — for the campaign or make a cash donation.

Entry fee is $20 per team, and no more than 64 teams will compete. “We’re urging everyone to register as early as possible on tournament day,” Humphrey said.

Door prizes have been donated by local merchants, and disc jockeys will play music.

The tournament will proceed regardless of the weather, Humphrey said.
