Charity softball game for food pantries

UH employees face off Friday

MARGIE PAGE: Employees of UH-Geneva and UH-Conneaut medical centers will come out swinging at each other Friday in a charity softball game at Massucci Field in Ashtabula.

“The game is all about fun and friendly competition but also to raise money for two great local charities,” UH-Geneva and UH-Conneaut medical centers President Rob David said.

The game will benefit Geneva and Conneaut food pantries. Admission is $1 or two cans of food.

“All proceeds will go to the local food pantries in a 50-50 split,” David said.

The teams, which will be composed equally of male and female players, are made up of hospital physicians and other staff members, David said.

Refreshments and concessions will be available at the field, as well as face painting.

“Each team will have a mascot, and we will sing the national anthem,” David said. “The employees are really getting into this. The game will be a lot of fun for everyone.”

The game begins at 6 p.m. Friday at Massucci Field on Columbus Avenue.
