WARREN DILLAWAY / Star Beacon DAVID CHAMPLIN, 39, of Ashtabula, listens in Ashtabula Municipal Court during a preliminary hearing on an assault charge following an Aug. 22 altercation on Station Avenue. Champlin has also been charged with murder in the incident but evidence was not available for a preliminary hearing Tuesday on the murder charge.
