THE CROOKED Gulf covered bridge is recalled by many who spent carefree childhood days in the Gulf at State Road. The bridge spanned the Ashtabula River for more than 80 years before it succumbed to progress in 1949. Sixty years later, a new covered bridge, the longest in the nation, soars above the site where Crooked Gulf stood.
