Mead, who worked for the clerk of courts 41 years and was clerk for 21 of those years, was trained by Campbell, who was chief deputy. Pentek, the clerk of courts, was trained by Mead, who encouraged her to run for the office. Pentek took office Dec. 29, when Mead retired a few days short of the end of her term.
